DinnerPlanner is designed with privacy in mind. This App runs entirely in your browser — there is no server, no database, and no account required. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is stored, and your rights.

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect any personal information. Specifically:

  • No name, email, or account details
  • No usage analytics or tracking
  • No cookies for advertising or analytics
  • No IP addresses or device fingerprints
  • No data transmitted to third parties

Data You Create

When you use the App, you may create meal plans, pantry inventories, shopping lists, recipes, and preferences. This data is stored only on your device using two browser technologies:

  • localStorage — used for app settings and temporary drafts
  • IndexedDB — used for your meal library, pantry items, shopping lists, and recipes

This data never leaves your browser. We cannot access it, back it up, or restore it on your behalf.

Data You Control

You are fully responsible for your data. The App provides export and import features so you can:

  • Back up your data to JSON files
  • Transfer your data between devices or browsers
  • Restore from a previous backup

If you clear your browser storage, uninstall the App, or use a different browser, your data will be lost unless you have exported it.

Third-Party Services

The App uses open-source libraries hosted on npm (such as React, Zustand, and date-fns). These are standard development dependencies and do not collect user data.

The recipe import feature may fetch content from public recipe websites. When you use this feature, the App retrieves structured data (JSON-LD) from the page you specify. The recipe content is processed in your browser and is not stored on any server.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the App, no personal data has been collected.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
